Language Students' Coordinator – Senegal
Help prepare missionaries coming to French-speaking Africa. Welcome new workers wanting to learn French onto a language programme in Senegal.
Look after the students, be a spiritual mentor, and encourage them in their studies and acculturation. Correspond with WEC Sending Bases as appropriate.
Qualities & Gifts Sought
Fluency in French. Good experience and knowledge of West Africa; experience of living in Senegal an advantage. Good communication, organisational and people skills. Would help to have teaching abilities.

Senegal in West Africa owes its name to the Senegal River. The name comes from the Wolof 'Sunuu Gaal', which means 'Our Boat'. Senegal covers a land area of almost 197,000 sq kilometres and has an estimated population of about 15 million. Its economic and political capital is Dakar. The climate is Sahelian, but there is a rainy season.
The vision of WEC in Senegal is to see every people and language group of Senegal knowing, loving and worshipping Jesus.
We believe we will see this happen as we commit to workers sharing the good news of Jesus creatively, sensitively and abundantly amongst the people in urban centres and rural areas, reaching both adults and children.
We want to see groups of disciples emerging and communities of disciples belonging to Jesus formed who understand and obey the great commission.
As well as church planting, another essential ministry in Senegal is BCS, Bourofaye Christian School, for missionaries' children. The school serves Christian workers in many West African countries and provides quality schooling for children aged 8-16.
