About Russian Federation
Russia is a sovereign country in Eurasia. At 17,125,200 square kilometres (6,612,100 sq mi), Russia is the largest country in the world by area, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth’s inhabited land area, and the ninth most populous, with over 144 million people at the end of December 2017. The Russian economy ranks 12th by GDP.
The European western part of the country is much more populated and urbanised than the eastern; about 77% of the population live in European Russia. Russia's capital Moscow is one of the largest cities in the world; other major urban centers include Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Novgorod.
Extending across the entirety of northern Asia and much of eastern Europe, Russia spans eleven time zones and incorporates a wide range of environments and landforms. From northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with 14 countries.
Russia has an extensive coastline of over 37,000 km (22,991 mi) along the Arctic and Pacific Oceans, as well as along numerous Seas.
Russia has thousands of rivers and inland bodies of water, providing it with one of the world's largest surface water resources. Its lakes contain approximately one-quarter of the world's liquid fresh water.
Much of Russia has a humid continental climate. However, most of northern Russia and Siberia has a subarctic climate, with extremely severe winters in the inner regions of northeast Siberia (with the record low temperature of −71.2 °C or −96.2 °F).
Mountain ranges are found along the southern borders, such as the Caucasus and the Altai. The Ural Mountains, rich in mineral resources, form a north-south range that divides Europe and Asia.

WEC in Russia
WEC is working in rural North-West Russia, building a foundation of prayer and faith and joining in with Russian believers to see families and communities transformed through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
God is looking for those who he can anoint to bring good news to the poor, comfort the broken-hearted, free captives from the law, and speak out God’s favour.
There is also a Betel team in Russia, a WEC ministry principally focussed on reaching men and women around the world trapped in a life of brokenness through long term addictions and homelessness.
