TEFL Teacher among Buddhists in Southeast Asia
Come to teach English to Buddhist young adults, up to six classes a week at our English Centre. This will give you opportunities to build good friendships and hold Bible studies at the weekend with those interested.
You could also get involved with a local kindergarten by teaching English, and build relationships with families. Textbooks and teaching support is available.
This is an ideal way to get a taste for mission opportunities in this needy country.
Qualities & Gifts Sought
You are a mother-tongue speaker of English, and ideally will have a basic TEFL English teaching qualification.
You love to meet people and take opportunities to share your faith in a sensitive way. Some knowledge of the Buddhist worldview is helpful.

About Teaching English
Fluency in English provides students with a vital skill. By teaching English as a foreign language you can take opportunities to build relationships with students, which may open doors to share the gospel.
Use your TEFL or TESOL training on a short-term mission experience with WEC. Have an opportunity to travel and experience a new culture. Every year there are opportunities in Brazil and Korea to teach our trainee missionaries.
Here are some stories from Brazil:
Jacquie taught English in Guinea-Bissau on a short term mission with WEC. Read Jacquie's story.
About Southeast Asia
The whole of Asia has developed rapidly over the last two decades, with huge political and economic development, along with rapid church growth.
All kinds of opportunities are opening up as ASEAN develops and Asia continues to change. God is clearly at work and WEC seeks to be in step with him, seeing the nations of Southeast Asia reflecting God’s glory, his kingdom impacting each nation, and disciples of Jesus making more disciples.
WEC’s diverse ministry in Southeast Asia includes missional business, education, English teaching, medical care and development work.
We cannot give details online about the countries, situations and opportunities we have found where you can serve in Southeast Asia, but we will be able to tell you more when you meet us face to face.
