“People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it.” Simon Sinek

So, why do WEC do what we do? Why do we seek to see Christ known, loved and worshipped amongst the unreached peoples of the world? John Bagg shares his second compelling reason.

Reason #2: The Word commands us and the Spirit compels us.

“For Christ’s love compels us …” 2 Cor 5:14

Mission is God’s idea, his people have the privilege of participating with him in what he is doing. He is the One who instigates mission and he is the One who calls, equips and empowers his people to do it.

We believe that, as God’s children, we have both an external and an internal motivation to serve him. The external command ‘to love one another’ and the commission ‘to go into all the world and preach the gospel’ meet with the internal compulsion of Christ’s love.

These work together to mobilise the people of God to serve him and serve the communities he sends us to. They might be compared to a river in full flood, a raging torrent that desires to flow to the ends of the earth sweeping God’s people with it to take the message and the love of God with them. But, we can only participate if we are willing to jump into the river. We cannot observe the flow from the bank.

Are you willing to jump in? Where is God leading You? If you want to explore this further, or join us in response to God’s leading then please get in touch.

John Bagg served as a UK Director for 12 years. He and Pauline will begin new roles as WEC Deputy International Directors in 2020.
