Music Researcher in South Asia
Are you a talented musician? Want to see a whole community changed and worshipping Jesus? One of WEC's church planting teams could benefit from more people who enjoy playing musical instruments or who would be dedicated to coming and learning something new.
Initially significant time would be spent each day learning the local language and culture. Alongside that you would devote time to learning music in the local styles in order to participate in times of worship and outreach opportunities.
Many worship songs are already written, and local teachers are eager to teach you. We would welcome you here, whether you play a western instrument like guitar, violin, or flute, but especially if you are willing to learn to play traditional Indian instruments, for the purpose of using them in worship.
Qualities & Gifts Sought
Competence in playing a musical instrument would be ideal. You have a heart for Indian people, and are interested in helping to develop ethnic worship.
Although you may be learning a new instrument while here, many of the skills for playing one instrument will transfer over to playing another (eg. guitar skills would help in learning a sitar, oud, rabab, or other stringed instrument.
You are adaptable, as the teaching methodology is very different here, and you'll need enough motivation to practise on top of learning the culture and adjusting to the climate, and a willingness to perform in front of crowds, where there is little privacy.

About South Asia
The whole of Asia has developed rapidly over the last two decades, with huge political and economic development, along with rapid church growth.
All kinds of opportunities are opening up as ASEAN develops and Asia continues to change. God is clearly at work and WEC seeks to be in step with him, seeing the nations of South Asia reflecting God’s glory, his kingdom impacting each nation, and disciples of Jesus making more disciples.
WEC’s diverse ministry in South Asia includes missional business, education, English teaching, medical care and development work.
We cannot give details online about the countries, situations and opportunities we have found where you can serve in South Asia, but we will be able to tell you more when you meet us face to face.

About Arts in Mission
Arts Release is a group of creative arts specialists who love Jesus and people of other cultures. They are reaching the unreached, worshipping, discipling, training and mobilising through the God-given power of the arts, inspired by the Holy Spirit.
The ArtsRelease teams (some full-time, some part-time) enjoy expressing God's love through various art forms. Some have professional arts training and others have picked up skills on the way.
WEC currently have teams based in England, France, Germany, Spain and Singapore. Our ArtsRelease team members sometimes travel to work alongside WEC teams in other countries, but also increasingly work collaboratively online, doing research, training, performance, and leading worship using various art forms.
