Jeeyoung spent three weeks in Mexico, on a short-term mission with WEC. She has quite a story to tell, even from before she got on the plane!

‘A year ago, I was visiting the HQ and a picture of a little girl from Mexico caught my eye as I was coming down the main staircase. The next morning, someone mentioned there would be a short-term mission trip to Mexico, the following summer. At lunch, I sat next to a lady I’d never met before and it turned out she used to be a missionary in Mexico, led the previous short-term mission to Mexico, and might be leading this next one too! These three “signs” were enough to convince me that God wanted me to go on this trip!

‘While we were in Mexico, we helped a small church in Tepoztlan by running a children’s Bible club, visiting church members’ homes and sharing testimonies with their families, and painting a mural on the church wall. We also visited the WEC sending base in the Cuernavaca, where we met Mexicans training to become missionaries and heard about all the Mexican missionaries across the world.

‘Be open to what the Lord will show you and teach you, trust him and let him lead the situation.'

‘I enjoyed getting to know people – the team, the missionaries and the locals. It was great to connect with people serving the Lord in a different part of the world. And the most exciting part for me was being reminded of God’s heart for the lost, and seeing Him at work in another culture.

‘This mission helped me refocus on what’s really important – “the things of heaven”. I had a really busy few months leading up to it and became very focused on the issues right in front of me. In Mexico, I could fully concentrate on being with and living for Jesus, without other responsibilities.

‘To anyone thinking of signing up for a short-term mission, I would say: be open to what the Lord will show you and teach you, trust him and let him lead the situation and, last but not least, be excited!’
