It will give you a broader understanding of what mission means and help you explore your own calling to mission.
Nicola’s story
Nicola arrived at a Mission & Me weekend with a feeling that God was calling her to cross-cultural mission, but questions about exactly what that might mean for her. ‘Mission & Me offered just what I was looking for,’ she explains. ‘It was a weekend away to find out about what God is doing in the world and how He could use me.’
Nicola found her Mission & Me weekend highly memorable. In particular, a ‘cultural experience’ on the Saturday evening has really stayed with her. ‘The couple who led it gave us real insight into what life was like in their country of service. As a group, we enjoyed a delicious African meal while having some of our questions answered. It was lots of fun and very informative.’
‘The weekend included plenty of time for personal reflection and prayer, in addition to the group sessions,’ Nicola remembers.
I found it helpful to have space to think and reflect as well as have one-to-one conversations with WEC missionaries.
Since that weekend, Nicola has spent two years studying at the WEC missionary training college in New Zealand, and six months serving in The Gambia. She’s currently working in WEC Trek, WEC UK’s short term missions department.
For Nicola, Mission & Me was a crucial stepping stone into mission. ‘Mission & Me gave me the confidence to step out in faith on the path God had for me. I'd recommend Mission & Me to anyone, young or old, who is interested in world mission. It will give you the chance to explore what part you could play in God's plan for the world.’
